One of the main objectives of the group is to...

...ensure that members of LGBTQ+ community can access the very best in care and support within their own local community.

This we hope can be achieved by chatting with group members who have already gone through the experience of caring for a loved one, a partner or a family friend. Through dialogue I want to discover:

  • where the dementia care is extremely good in the country for LGBTQ+ members
  • help those members who are living in an area which may be struggling to provide a quality service
  • encourage the local community to get on board to support these areas by forming their own local support groups

We can of course help ourselves and each other with input from members of the group, and we will do just exactly that.

We also want to ensure through public awareness and funding that the specialist Alzheimer’s scientists can continue with their Dementia research.

Granny would also like to help eradicate stigma, discrimination and homophobia from within the caring sector. Granny doesn’t want to see one more LGBTQ+ member being frightened or unable to cope with the situation they find themselves in.
